Perrelet Turbine Watch Video/ Basel World 2010

Perrelet's Turbine Watch Video - Inspired from the field of aeronautics, our engineers and watch designers have created a new adaptation of the Perrelet patent, the "Double Rotor". The Turbine Watch fitted with 12 blades made of titanium, covers the dial and slips beneath an interior black bezel. On the under dial, markers accentuate the optical effect and make the impact of this model all the more sensational. Just like a jet engine.

Perrelet will be attending Basel World 2010. To make an appointment with Michael Goldstein of Perrelet USA please call 954-575-7980. See you there!

Paul Sorvino Wears Perrelet Watch- Perrelet Skeleton Chrono

Paul Sorvino's watch of choice is Perrelet's Skeleton Chrono.

Paul Sorvino is pictured with Michael Goldstein, Managing Director of Perrelet USA, sporting his new Perrelet Skeleton Chronograph Watch. In this photo, Paul Sorvino was at the taping for his “Paul Sorvino Marinara Sauce” commercial. As Paul Sorvino is cooking pasta sauce throughout the commercial, there are many great shots of him in the 18k rose gold skeleton chrono watch.

Paul Sorvino chose the Perrelet Skeleton Chrono watch because of the spectacular cut-away dial that shows the movements of the watch, as well as the soft rose gold that compliments the black alligator strap. This watch is one of Perrelet’s most popular watches with collectors who appreciate the technical expertise of the Perrelet brand.

“There is something so unusual about this watch. It’s not just beautiful; it’s how it makes you feel when you wear it,” says Paul Sorvino about his Perrelet Watch.

Men’s Skeleton Chrono

Automatic movement. Central hands indicating hours, minutes and chronograph sweep seconds. Small seconds at 9 o’clock. 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock and 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock. Date at 3 o’clock. 18k Rose gold Case with Black alligator strap.

Perrelet and Lussori

The Lussori event with Perrelet went well. Virginie Perrelet, herself, was there to answer any design and tech questions that watch aficionados may have had. Thanks to Ariel from ABlogtoRead and Jorge from Timezone.com, we were able to promote the event and generate some buzz about the Lussori event.

The people who attended were definitely interested in the brand. I heard positive comments about the design and exquisite craftsmanship each watch had. I feel proud to say we left the event with new Perrelet fans.

Below are some photos from the event for your viewing. Hope you enjoy.

Perrelet V.S. The Economy/Retailer Spotlight

The news has been filling our heads with bad news regarding the economy. However, Perrelet has been doing really well in the marketplace. Here's what Anoop from East Coast Jewelry said, "at this particular point in time, Perrelet seems to be a brand gaining respect among watch aficionados for their movements and craftsmanship. Often collectors are jaded by newer brands that don’t have the history of well known brands, but Perrelet seems to surpass this stigma by gaining their respect.”

Hearing these comments makes me feel proud to represent the Perrelet brand. We are on our way to conquer the watch world!

California Dreaming

It's been awhile since I blogged. I'm slowly getting used to it and trying to make time to update at least once a week. But as some of my Twitter followers know, I was in California to make some business happen for Perrelet.

Business continues to improve slowly across the country and the west coast is no exception. The stores report increased traffic and increased sales but certainly not at the levels we have seen over the past years.
Monday I was in San Francisco with one of our authorized dealers SHAPUR. He has a great store on Post St. in the heart of downtown. He sells Perrelet and he is doing well with our timepieces.
Then I went to Carmel-by-the-sea to see our new client, LUSSORI. They have a great store in Carmel which is very busy now as visitors go for the cool weather from all over America. They are one of the best watch retailers in the USA and have already begun to sell Perrelet.
They have sold some watches already and they haven taken many orders for the turbine watch available around October..
On to Los Angeles where we visited with some existing clients in Westwood and Beverly Hills. They are very excited to receive the first shipments of the turbine watches and have many clients who are pilots, both commercial and amateur who want to own the turbine based on the design.
Finally went to Vancouver, British Columbia to visit our new agent, Time & Gold. They have had an incredible start with Perrelet and have sold both men's and ladies watches. The owner is Swiss so he has a particular love for Swiss Timepieces. The 2010 winter Olympics are in Vancouver and we are trying to find a way for me to go there during those two weeks to do a group of trunk shows. You can imagine the possibilities at that time. As always, love your support for Perrelet.

Perrelet in Fashion

Perrelet is well known among watch enthusiasts, however with PR and an agency, I'm please to see that Perrelet is penetrating the "fashion" scene. This will always be a watch enthusiast's "watch", however its nice to see that the fashion world is taking notice of the designs of the watch.

In a recent photoshoot with What's Wear, the editor used our Turbine watch as a luxury gift for Father's Day. We're included with some other fashionable and respected watch brands. To see the article you can visit it by clicking here. Please note we're on Page 3 :)

JCK Recap and Retailer Testimony

The JCK Las Vegas Show went well. Not many exhibitors had high hopes due to the economy, but I can say Perrelet had good meetings with retailers and media. First, the Venetian Hotel is gorgeous! The service and JCK Show people were kind and very accommodating with all of our request, especially in connecting my PR Guy's laptop to the TV.

One of the highlights was meeting with Ariel from ABlogToRead. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the watches and the industry. He took very detailed, specific photos and I see him being a very big figure in this industry. In addition, its great to meet the writers who support Perrelet. I hope to continue to work with him as well as other bloggers and writers. Like Ariel said, "We do this for the watches."

Some of the retailers I met with were very impressed with the Turbine piece, which included:

  • House of Diamonds
  • Ballerina Jewelry
  • Rocks Jewelry
  • Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Feldmar
  • Watch Connection
  • R. Kury Jewelry
  • NY Jewelers

Perpetuelle Interview

A few weeks ago, I was honored with a request for an interview with Kyle from Perpetuelle.com about my experience at the Baselworld Fair Show that occured earlier this year. The interview went well and he asked very interesting questions that I didn't think he would ask.

I'm slowly learning (with push from my PR Agency) that bloggers and online writers are very similiar to traditional journalist in regards to their work ethic and the fact they want to see great content in their publications (whether online or print).

Anyways, below is a snippet from the interview or you can click here to read the entire interview:

As part of our "Post-Baselworld Interview Series", Perpetuelle.com recently conducted an interview with Mr. Michael Goldstein, Managing Director of Perrelet USA.  We are pleased to share this interview with you below in which Mr. Goldstein was kind enough to share his insights into Baselworld 2009, some of the new and highly acclaimed new Perrelet collections, online media and more.

Perpetuelle:  How was BASELWORLD 2009 different for Perrelet compared to prior years?

Mr. Goldstein:  The main difference was the decrease of Americans traveling to the fair. In addition, this was our first year in a different booth location, Hall 1.1, and in a much larger space to present the collection. Despite the decrease in traffic, we were happy to see the commitment to buy product by the existing clients.

Traveling During May

The month of May (and business) is keeping me busy. I'm in New York City this week visiting retailers and enjoying all the rain. I should have known better to not expect sunny skies.

Anyways on to business talk - Perrelet will be exhibiting its best time pieces and new collections that are set to debut in the fall of 2009, so if you want to see how these watches look in person, the JCK Vegas Show will be the place to view it before its distributed globablly. My media schedule is getting filled and I can't be any more thrilled at that fact. I'm really excited about meeting a potential new retailer (it's a big one!).

If you're a member of the press, please feel free to e-mail Romey Louangvilay at Romey@goldsteincom.com to schedule an appointment to view the best that Perrelet has to offer.

If you can't make it to the show, you can read about the novelties before it debuts later this year. The Horozima Web Site posted amazing posts about the collection when I showed them during Basel in Switzerland:

Basel Recap

I am back in the states and rested after a short break following the BaselWorld Jewelry and Watch Trade Show. I'm actually re-packing and heading to NYC to meet with my PR Agency so they can explain to me more about social media. I think this will be a great trip and I've received several tweets commending Perrelet for breaking down the barriers between consumer and luxury brand.

Anyways, Basel was better than I thought it would be this year. It was very encouraging to see retailers support the luxury industry. I can't complain since Perrelet's new collection that were previewed at Basel were extremely popular. Several retailers and guests raved about the TURBINE collection.
For the TURBINE collection, Perrelet combines the world of aviation, with its technical fascination and wealth of adventurous heroes, that has always been a source of passion prompting the dreams of mankind, with its signature craftsmanship of watch making. You can see a preview shot from the collection below:

Perrelet Turbine collection

Power reserve: 42 hours
Frequency: 28,800 (4Hz)
Rubies: 21

Case material: Titanium, Anti-glare sapphire crystal (front & back)
Water-resistance: 5 ATM
Dial: Black, with black luminous numerals and indexes, Titanium turbine, Red luminous stripes on under dial
Bracelet:
Natural black rubber, DLC-treated folding titanium clasp

In addition to receiving positive comments regarding the TURBINE, I met with amazing editors and online writers. Some of them include meetings with Revolution Magazine, Professional Watches, Europa Star Magazine, WatchUSeek, WatchLuxus, Watch Journal and many more. All the editors seem to enjoy the collection as well and look forward to when it debuts around October 2009.

So overall, my experience at Basel was good. The turnout was better than expected and traffic in my hall was slow for several hours. But there were times when traffic picked up, and it was especially encouraging when I heard all the positive comments about Perrelet. Virginie seem to have a good time. Though she was invited for the "Passion For Watches" Luncheon, she was unable to make it. I wish either one of us could have attended but things happen. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet RJ who heads that group.

If you have any questions regarding the TURBINE collection, or our new pieces that will be available for distribution later this year (est. October 2009), please feel free to contact me at info@perreletusa.com.

Younger Watch Enthusiast

Being a watch enthusiast myself, I always view luxury watches, like Perrelet, as an investment timepiece. High-end watches should be kept in the family and passed from generation to generation - which brings me back to Basel experience - I saw several young watch enthusiasts.

Seeing younger guests made me really proud because it shows that their fathers/mothers passed the knowledge to them about the labor, mechanics and craftsmanship that goes into a watch, like Perrelet. Even though we're in a tough economy right now, we shouldn't forget about family values like spending time with your family, teaching them the history of items people view only as an accessory and enjoying a trip to Basel :)

Also - in-between my editor meetings at Basel, my PR rep has been keeping me updated of online media hits. One he forwarded me really caught my attention as its from a younger blogger who appears to be a "fashion icon" within the younger blogging community.

Like I said, I've always viewed luxury watches as an investment timepiece, it's nice to see this as both an investment and a fashion accessory. To read the Male-Mode blog post, please click here.

Another article you should read is from Horozima, a great web site that informs readers about watches. They know their watches, as you can see with their recent Perrelet post. Click here to read it.

Basel Buzz

Perrelet is here in Switzerland for the Baselworld Jewelry and Watch Fair! Things are exciting and I'm pleasantly surprised by the turnout. Despite the economic recession, several American retailers/buyers attended to support designers and to stock their inventory for the most unique brands and gain a competitive edge in the market place.

The Perrelet Tourbillon collection is really popular among the guests that arrive here. Times like this makes me honored to represent a brand like Perrelet, whose craftsmanship is unmatched by any brand. Tomorrow, Virginie Perrelet will join me at the Perrelet Stand in the Hall of Desires 1.1. To get a glimpse of the "most popular" watch at Basel, see below:

I've met with several people and I hope we're able to get the news about our new collection out to consumers and hope to nurture relationships I make here. To view my Basel "tweets", please visit follow me @WatchPerrelet on Twitter.

Also - please visit Bernard's Watch-Happening blog. I'm a huge fan and he's covering Basel as well. He did an amazing post about Perrelet's Moon Phase collection:

"I really love the blue dial!

New moon, crescent moon or full moon, since the dawn of time, the moon, easily visible to the naked eye, has exercised many natural influences on us and our planet. Thanks to Perrelet’s exclusive calibre, you will be able to know the precise moon phase. Regulated for the next hundred years (if working constantly), the mechanism will indicate the detailed evolution of this companion of our earth." Retailer Spotlights

Even though I've been extremely busy preparing for Basel in addition to meeting with my PR Agency Representative to learn more about social media, I wanted to spotlight some of Perrelet's retailers. I plan on doing this at least every month where I will have a "Retailers Spotlight" as a thankyou for supporting Perrelet and increase web traffic to their site.

Armstrong Rockwell Watches & Fine Jewelery - At Armstrong Rockwell, they believe, "If there was something better, we would have it!" Armstrong Rockwell Fine Jewelry is proud to be authorized agents for great luxury brands, such as: Audemars Piguet, BlancpaiN, Hublot, Jaquet Droz, and Perrelet. Further, Armstrong is a boutique style store, unlike most independently owned, or chain stores; combining modern technology with old world values. Their staff, as well as the products they carry, represent this balance. Located in downtown Hartford for over twenty-eight years, Armstrong Rockwell offers an extensive collection of some of the finest jewelry and watches available worldwide. In addition, we are proud that they represent us. They even promote us on Timezone.com, which is a great benefit to the brand, so this is one of the reasons why I wanted to "spotlight them".

Social Media and High-End Luxury

I may be older, but my experience in the luxury watch industry is undeniable, and even I realize the importance of social media.

I know our industry is very hesitant to embrace Myspace, Twitter, Facebook and all the other social networks, but after meeting with my PR agency representative I feel very confident to say that with the RIGHT program and RIGHT strategy, social media can be very effective. Though I have been with them for about 1 week, I can already see the results of their work. They got me started on Twitter and I'm addicted! I met great journalists and other watch enthusiasts that will be attending Basel! I can't wait to meet them and show them the new Perrelet Collection in addition to seeing one of my retailers promoting my brand in the Timezone forums.

So as a fellow luxury industry expert, I say as long as the strategy is appropriate, then embrace social media. Hope to see everyone at Basel this year. -- oh yeah, follow me on Twitter by clicking here.
