Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Are you still looking for that luxury holiday gift to give that special person? Here are some ideas which you may like:

Perrelet’s unique, patented creation, The Double Rotor represents the essence of Perrelet’s brand identity. By placing the movement at the center of their development projects, the Perrelet engineers developed what was to become one of the mechanisms especially typical of the watch industry, the “Double Rotor”. The Double Rotor is represented in 4 different families of Perrelet Watches: Turbine, Diamond Flower, Double Rotor Titanium and Classical.

1. The Classical Double Rotor - for lovers of traditional timekeepers, in all its sober elegance.
2. The Double Rotor Titanium - in contrasting polished and satin-finished titanium, houses a carbon fiber dial, with luminescent numerals and an upper Double Rotor made of titanium.
3. The Diamond Flower - an original marriage of refined watchmaking and the jewelry art, in which the Double Rotor was inspired by a finely sculpted lotus flower, set with precious diamond and rubies.
4. The Turbine - this is certainly the most dynamic interpretation of the Double Rotor, since the latter completely covers the dial. It produces a spectacular optical effect, by means of a lower dial.

Have a happy holiday!

Paul Sorvino Wears Perrelet Watch- Perrelet Skeleton Chrono

Paul Sorvino's watch of choice is Perrelet's Skeleton Chrono.

Paul Sorvino is pictured with Michael Goldstein, Managing Director of Perrelet USA, sporting his new Perrelet Skeleton Chronograph Watch. In this photo, Paul Sorvino was at the taping for his “Paul Sorvino Marinara Sauce” commercial. As Paul Sorvino is cooking pasta sauce throughout the commercial, there are many great shots of him in the 18k rose gold skeleton chrono watch.

Paul Sorvino chose the Perrelet Skeleton Chrono watch because of the spectacular cut-away dial that shows the movements of the watch, as well as the soft rose gold that compliments the black alligator strap. This watch is one of Perrelet’s most popular watches with collectors who appreciate the technical expertise of the Perrelet brand.

“There is something so unusual about this watch. It’s not just beautiful; it’s how it makes you feel when you wear it,” says Paul Sorvino about his Perrelet Watch.

Men’s Skeleton Chrono

Automatic movement. Central hands indicating hours, minutes and chronograph sweep seconds. Small seconds at 9 o’clock. 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock and 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock. Date at 3 o’clock. 18k Rose gold Case with Black alligator strap.

Perrelet and Lussori

The Lussori event with Perrelet went well. Virginie Perrelet, herself, was there to answer any design and tech questions that watch aficionados may have had. Thanks to Ariel from ABlogtoRead and Jorge from Timezone.com, we were able to promote the event and generate some buzz about the Lussori event.

The people who attended were definitely interested in the brand. I heard positive comments about the design and exquisite craftsmanship each watch had. I feel proud to say we left the event with new Perrelet fans.

Below are some photos from the event for your viewing. Hope you enjoy.

Retail Spotlight

Perrelet really is an underdog story. We're a small brand that has been around for centuries, but few know about us. However, recently (thanks to social media and PR Team) Perrelet has gained so much recognition and awareness. My current retailer network all have reported positive sales during this economy and several more Perrelet requests from consumers.

This year, I hope retailers that aren't a part of the Perrelet family contact me. I would love to introduce them to a brand worth buying. In the mean time, check out some testimonies below:

Steve, the owner of Exquisite Timepiece in Naples, FL said: "The Perrelet brand is doing very well, especially the Retrograde, Double Rotor, and Titanium products. The prices are fair for the quality they are made from." To see the website, just visit www.exuisitetimepiece.com.

Another retailer I want to highlight is J. Vincent's Jewelry Store. It's a New Jersey retailer and is a manufacturing facility, retail showroom, and wholesale importer dedicated to satisfying the needs of the fashion jewelry consumer. They, too, had nothing but nice comments to say regarding the brand. Below are photos from the store:

Perrelet V.S. The Economy/Retailer Spotlight

The news has been filling our heads with bad news regarding the economy. However, Perrelet has been doing really well in the marketplace. Here's what Anoop from East Coast Jewelry said, "at this particular point in time, Perrelet seems to be a brand gaining respect among watch aficionados for their movements and craftsmanship. Often collectors are jaded by newer brands that don’t have the history of well known brands, but Perrelet seems to surpass this stigma by gaining their respect.”

Hearing these comments makes me feel proud to represent the Perrelet brand. We are on our way to conquer the watch world!

California Dreaming

It's been awhile since I blogged. I'm slowly getting used to it and trying to make time to update at least once a week. But as some of my Twitter followers know, I was in California to make some business happen for Perrelet.

Business continues to improve slowly across the country and the west coast is no exception. The stores report increased traffic and increased sales but certainly not at the levels we have seen over the past years.
Monday I was in San Francisco with one of our authorized dealers SHAPUR. He has a great store on Post St. in the heart of downtown. He sells Perrelet and he is doing well with our timepieces.
Then I went to Carmel-by-the-sea to see our new client, LUSSORI. They have a great store in Carmel which is very busy now as visitors go for the cool weather from all over America. They are one of the best watch retailers in the USA and have already begun to sell Perrelet.
They have sold some watches already and they haven taken many orders for the turbine watch available around October..
On to Los Angeles where we visited with some existing clients in Westwood and Beverly Hills. They are very excited to receive the first shipments of the turbine watches and have many clients who are pilots, both commercial and amateur who want to own the turbine based on the design.
Finally went to Vancouver, British Columbia to visit our new agent, Time & Gold. They have had an incredible start with Perrelet and have sold both men's and ladies watches. The owner is Swiss so he has a particular love for Swiss Timepieces. The 2010 winter Olympics are in Vancouver and we are trying to find a way for me to go there during those two weeks to do a group of trunk shows. You can imagine the possibilities at that time. As always, love your support for Perrelet.

A "Perrelet" Father's Day

I know this is late, but I just wanted to share my Father's Day with everyone. As I'm learning more about blogging, twitter, and online message forums and immersing myself in this community, I felt as if I should also be a little more personable. So I'll start my sharing my Father's Day recap.

After traveling with the boss from Switzerland (he was in Miami), I spent a lot of time recapping the meetings and working on projects he gave me. I'm still (with the help of my PR Agency) trying to educate him on the influence and importance of social media. I think he grasps the idea better as he is very happy to see what we have accomplished so far in a difficult time and he is convinced that the USA has the best potential for Perrelet of any market in the world.

Many challenges to face including a difficult market but with the new products we are introducing we are all convinced we will meet and surpass our targets for 2009.
In addition, I did see my father and even cut the lawn for him. To think about it, I did a lot of cleaning and chores around the house like cleaning the pool and washing the car. It felt like old times again. And I'm proud to say that my father did wear his Perrelet Jumping Hour Watch.

I was happy to see that Ben from Hodinkee received great "fashionable" reviews about the Turbine Watch he borrowed. It's great Perrelet is breaking into the fashion scene.

For those who haven't invested in a gift for "dear ol' dad", visit the Perrelet web site to find a local retailer near you. Check out the Jumping Hour, Skeleton Chronograph or Retrograde.

Perrelet in Fashion

Perrelet is well known among watch enthusiasts, however with PR and an agency, I'm please to see that Perrelet is penetrating the "fashion" scene. This will always be a watch enthusiast's "watch", however its nice to see that the fashion world is taking notice of the designs of the watch.

In a recent photoshoot with What's Wear, the editor used our Turbine watch as a luxury gift for Father's Day. We're included with some other fashionable and respected watch brands. To see the article you can visit it by clicking here. Please note we're on Page 3 :)

Real Life Turbine Shots

Apparently, people want to see the Perrelet Turbine Watch on a wrist. TimeZone.com was even flooded with replies of Turbine admirers who wanted to see a "non professional" shot of the watch. Well, Ariel from ABlogtoRead was kindly enough to post photos of the Turbine watch on his wrist.

To see the Turbine photos on a wrist, you can view them below (or visit Ariel's blog):

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of my highlights was having the opportunity to meet Ariel. He was very knowledgeable and asked me questions no other journalist asked me. I could tell he is a true watch enthusiast and blog for the love of the timepiece. I'm glad he is on our side to help promote Perrelet to other consumers.

I know I've been blogging less because I've been busy, but I love tweeting with you. Feel free to comment or follow me on twitter.

JCK Recap and Retailer Testimony

The JCK Las Vegas Show went well. Not many exhibitors had high hopes due to the economy, but I can say Perrelet had good meetings with retailers and media. First, the Venetian Hotel is gorgeous! The service and JCK Show people were kind and very accommodating with all of our request, especially in connecting my PR Guy's laptop to the TV.

One of the highlights was meeting with Ariel from ABlogToRead. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the watches and the industry. He took very detailed, specific photos and I see him being a very big figure in this industry. In addition, its great to meet the writers who support Perrelet. I hope to continue to work with him as well as other bloggers and writers. Like Ariel said, "We do this for the watches."

Some of the retailers I met with were very impressed with the Turbine piece, which included:

  • House of Diamonds
  • Ballerina Jewelry
  • Rocks Jewelry
  • Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Feldmar
  • Watch Connection
  • R. Kury Jewelry
  • NY Jewelers

Don't forget to Tweet @WatchPerrelet.

Perpetual Calendar Watch

I leave for the JCK Las Vegas Show in two days! I'm very excited to show off the new pieces thatPerrelet will be releasing later this year as it is an honor to represent this brand. The quality of work that goes into each piece is truly exquisite and well worth the investment when someone buys a Perrelet watch.

One of the pieces that I will be highlighting is the Perpetual Calendar:

The Perpetual Calendar in 18K pink gold. The 43.5mm case houses a caliber P-251 automatic movement with perpetual calendar, moonphase, and chronograph functions. The rotor is set with a glass in a patented design that allows the owner to view the angled bridges decorated with the trademark Perrelet embroidery in the form of a “P”.

I would love to hear what the blog-o-sphere thinks about this watch... To read an awsome review on this watch from Watch Time Online, click here.

Perpetuelle Interview

A few weeks ago, I was honored with a request for an interview with Kyle from Perpetuelle.com about my experience at the Baselworld Fair Show that occured earlier this year. The interview went well and he asked very interesting questions that I didn't think he would ask.

I'm slowly learning (with push from my PR Agency) that bloggers and online writers are very similiar to traditional journalist in regards to their work ethic and the fact they want to see great content in their publications (whether online or print).

Anyways, below is a snippet from the interview or you can click here to read the entire interview:

As part of our "Post-Baselworld Interview Series", Perpetuelle.com recently conducted an interview with Mr. Michael Goldstein, Managing Director of Perrelet USA.  We are pleased to share this interview with you below in which Mr. Goldstein was kind enough to share his insights into Baselworld 2009, some of the new and highly acclaimed new Perrelet collections, online media and more.

Perpetuelle:  How was BASELWORLD 2009 different for Perrelet compared to prior years?

Mr. Goldstein:  The main difference was the decrease of Americans traveling to the fair. In addition, this was our first year in a different booth location, Hall 1.1, and in a much larger space to present the collection. Despite the decrease in traffic, we were happy to see the commitment to buy product by the existing clients.

Traveling During May

The month of May (and business) is keeping me busy. I'm in New York City this week visiting retailers and enjoying all the rain. I should have known better to not expect sunny skies.

Anyways on to business talk - Perrelet will be exhibiting its best time pieces and new collections that are set to debut in the fall of 2009, so if you want to see how these watches look in person, the JCK Vegas Show will be the place to view it before its distributed globablly. My media schedule is getting filled and I can't be any more thrilled at that fact. I'm really excited about meeting a potential new retailer (it's a big one!).

If you're a member of the press, please feel free to e-mail Romey Louangvilay at Romey@goldsteincom.com to schedule an appointment to view the best that Perrelet has to offer.

If you can't make it to the show, you can read about the novelties before it debuts later this year. The Horozima Web Site posted amazing posts about the collection when I showed them during Basel in Switzerland:

JCK Vegas is so close

The JCK Las Vegas Show is almost here. Four weeks away and I have alot of work I have to do in order to get Perrelet's name out there. My PR Agency is doing great job at promoting Perrelet, and we've been mentioned and featured in several watch related forums and blogs.

I'm really satisfied right now because Perrelet is breaking these barriers down between consumer and brand, and the response has been amazing. I hope Perrelet continues to lead the way in communicating with its consumers, the same way it invented the first automatic watch.

Hope to see everyone at JCK. Tweet @WatchPerrelet if you'll be there.

Swiss Watch Show By JCK Vegas

It seems like it was just yesterday when I was in Switzerland during the Baselworld Trade Show with some of Perrelet's new timepieces. The feedback was positive and I met with a few potential retailers in North America, so very exciting prospects and news regarding US distribution. As stated, the TURBINE timepiece, available October 2009, is very popular and several blogs and forums have syndicated the video and content.

With Basel behind us, now I am preparing for the JCK Las Vegas Show! So I'll be very busy in the next few weeks and hopefully Perrelet will have a positive influence on this show as well. You can expect me to Tweet about this and blog live from Vegas, too.

I hope to meet more bloggers, media and retailers at JCK!

TURBINE VIDEO

Hello fellow watch enthusiasts, I just wanted to share with everyone a video of the Perrelet TURBINE watch that demonstrates how it works and the mechanics of it.

Feel free to pass around and ask your local jewelry retailers about the Perrelet TURBINE collection, available around October 2009.

Me Twittering and Blogging

It's really flattering that I'm being recoginzed for blogging and twittering on behalf of Perrelet. Hodinkee did a post about me breaking the barriers between consumer and a luxury brand. I'm very pleased.

Here is a snippet from Ben's article:
"Last week, we briefly mentioned that the Managing Director of Perrelet North America had launched his own personal blog (available here). We were shocked and delighted to see a watch industry executive taking the initiative to do this. He was (and is), in effect, dropping the barrier between industry leader and the consumer. "

Basel Recap

I am back in the states and rested after a short break following the BaselWorld Jewelry and Watch Trade Show. I'm actually re-packing and heading to NYC to meet with my PR Agency so they can explain to me more about social media. I think this will be a great trip and I've received several tweets commending Perrelet for breaking down the barriers between consumer and luxury brand.

Anyways, Basel was better than I thought it would be this year. It was very encouraging to see retailers support the luxury industry. I can't complain since Perrelet's new collection that were previewed at Basel were extremely popular. Several retailers and guests raved about the TURBINE collection.
For the TURBINE collection, Perrelet combines the world of aviation, with its technical fascination and wealth of adventurous heroes, that has always been a source of passion prompting the dreams of mankind, with its signature craftsmanship of watch making. You can see a preview shot from the collection below:

Perrelet Turbine collection

Movement: Automatic P-181,Open-worked, black Perrelet rotor
Power reserve: 42 hours
Frequency: 28,800 (4Hz)
Rubies: 21
Case:&hibar; 44mm
Case material: Titanium, Anti-glare sapphire crystal (front & back)
Water-resistance: 5 ATM
Dial: Black, with black luminous numerals and indexes, Titanium turbine, Red luminous stripes on under dial
Bracelet:
Natural black rubber, DLC-treated folding titanium clasp

In addition to receiving positive comments regarding the TURBINE, I met with amazing editors and online writers. Some of them include meetings with Revolution Magazine, Professional Watches, Europa Star Magazine, WatchUSeek, WatchLuxus, Watch Journal and many more. All the editors seem to enjoy the collection as well and look forward to when it debuts around October 2009.

So overall, my experience at Basel was good. The turnout was better than expected and traffic in my hall was slow for several hours. But there were times when traffic picked up, and it was especially encouraging when I heard all the positive comments about Perrelet. Virginie seem to have a good time. Though she was invited for the "Passion For Watches" Luncheon, she was unable to make it. I wish either one of us could have attended but things happen. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet RJ who heads that group.

If you have any questions regarding the TURBINE collection, or our new pieces that will be available for distribution later this year (est. October 2009), please feel free to contact me at info@perreletusa.com.

Younger Watch Enthusiast

Being a watch enthusiast myself, I always view luxury watches, like Perrelet, as an investment timepiece. High-end watches should be kept in the family and passed from generation to generation - which brings me back to Basel experience - I saw several young watch enthusiasts.

Seeing younger guests made me really proud because it shows that their fathers/mothers passed the knowledge to them about the labor, mechanics and craftsmanship that goes into a watch, like Perrelet. Even though we're in a tough economy right now, we shouldn't forget about family values like spending time with your family, teaching them the history of items people view only as an accessory and enjoying a trip to Basel :)

Also - in-between my editor meetings at Basel, my PR rep has been keeping me updated of online media hits. One he forwarded me really caught my attention as its from a younger blogger who appears to be a "fashion icon" within the younger blogging community.

Like I said, I've always viewed luxury watches as an investment timepiece, it's nice to see this as both an investment and a fashion accessory. To read the Male-Mode blog post, please click here.

Another article you should read is from Horozima, a great web site that informs readers about watches. They know their watches, as you can see with their recent Perrelet post. Click here to read it.

Social Media Works!!

Basel is keeping me occupied while I'm in Switzerland. As I stated before, the crowd was more than I expected and the guests are really loving Perrelet's new collections.

Also - Virginie Perrelet, 10th generation great grand daughter of Perrelet founder, Louis-Abraham Perrelet, has arrived at Basel. She is with me representing this amazing brand and speaking with editors. Her feedback here has been really positive as well.

Virginie says, "
The day went really well and so far the editors love the Turbine all black and the one in titanium.
Also the maestro edition with the alarm timepiece + 5 mn repeater timepiece + music tower created a GREAT buzz! Love it."

We're excited that despite the economy, Perrelet is able to see a positive outlook. In addition, Ben from Hodinkee posted an amazing blurb about Perrelet and our venture into using social media. Looks like my PR Rep's recommendation to use these tools worked. He seem to favor the Perrelet moon phase collection and says Perrelet has generated great buzz at Basel. To read his full review, click here.

Basel Buzz

Perrelet is here in Switzerland for the Baselworld Jewelry and Watch Fair! Things are exciting and I'm pleasantly surprised by the turnout. Despite the economic recession, several American retailers/buyers attended to support designers and to stock their inventory for the most unique brands and gain a competitive edge in the market place.

The Perrelet Tourbillon collection is really popular among the guests that arrive here. Times like this makes me honored to represent a brand like Perrelet, whose craftsmanship is unmatched by any brand. Tomorrow, Virginie Perrelet will join me at the Perrelet Stand in the Hall of Desires 1.1. To get a glimpse of the "most popular" watch at Basel, see below:

I've met with several people and I hope we're able to get the news about our new collection out to consumers and hope to nurture relationships I make here. To view my Basel "tweets", please visit follow me @WatchPerrelet on Twitter.

Also - please visit Bernard's Watch-Happening blog. I'm a huge fan and he's covering Basel as well. He did an amazing post about Perrelet's Moon Phase collection:

"I really love the blue dial!

New moon, crescent moon or full moon, since the dawn of time, the moon, easily visible to the naked eye, has exercised many natural influences on us and our planet. Thanks to Perrelet’s exclusive calibre, you will be able to know the precise moon phase. Regulated for the next hundred years (if working constantly), the mechanism will indicate the detailed evolution of this companion of our earth." Perrelet in The News

As I prepare for Switzerland to attend the Baselworld Watch and Jewelery Fair, I wanted to just highlight some recent "conversations" about Perrelet in the blog-o-sphere. Seeing these placements makes me proud to be associated with Perrelet, and I couldn't thank the writers who chose to include Perrelet in their written works makes me feel honored. So before I share the media hits, I just wanted to thank all of them for thinking of Perrelet and would love to highlight all of them, but here are the two most recent:

The web administrator included Perrelet in his pre-Basel articles. To read the full article, click here to see WatchUSeek.com.

A great brand advocate to Perrelet, Ariel Adams wrote a fantastic review on the Perrelet Tourbillon Watch. To read the article on Luxist.com, please click here.

The Wonder and Magic of Gemstones

The Perrelet brand is a pioneer of the watch industry - after all Perrelet did invent the first automatic watch that several other brands attempt to mimic. In addition to the automatic mechanism, Perrelet uses several other pieces to make your watch that much more desirable and unique, such as gems and other stones incorporated into the design.
gemstones

This brings me to the point that this is a blog about the luxury industry, so I wanted to highlight some gemstones the luxury industry uses in its designs for watches, rings, bracelets, etc.

Opal stoneThe opal is an interesting stone that has the attributes of intensification and amplification. Essentially, the opal can help to bring out both the best and worst of one’s own traits. In the area of love, the opal is believed to intensify love and loyalty, magnify desire and passion, and loosen inhibitions. Opal can come in bluish, reddish and pinkish colors, with each color adding its own traits to the stone, such as red’s spontaneity, blue’s communication of emotion, and pink’s tranquility and healing. If you want to give an opal to your loved one, an awareness of the traits each color adds can help you to personalize the stone.

garnetWe now move on to the garnet. The garnet comes in a range of color from reds to greens to yellows, browns and blacks. The garnet itself offers the vitality and energy of the ruby, but also offers compassion, grace, and protection for the traveler. The most common color of garnet is reddish-brown which adds the attributes of pride and command. If you are including the garnet in your list of possible stones for your loved one, it might also help you to know that garnets are supposed to help alleviate discord and anger; this is a trait that any couple might enjoy having around.

rubyRubies are most commonly known to be a deep red, as rubies that are too pink or violet are considered to be sapphires. As such, they are often associated with love and are extremely popular stones during St. Valentine’s Day. The red and the ruby have the given attributes of love, passion, vitality, energy and excitement. If your special someone has a particularly outgoing personality, perhaps a ruby could be the right gift of love. Perrelet even uses rubies in our watches to absorb the heat that some of the mechanisms can generate, giving your watch a longer lifespan.

Retailer Spotlights

Even though I've been extremely busy preparing for Basel in addition to meeting with my PR Agency Representative to learn more about social media, I wanted to spotlight some of Perrelet's retailers. I plan on doing this at least every month where I will have a "Retailers Spotlight" as a thankyou for supporting Perrelet and increase web traffic to their site.

Armstrong Rockwell Watches & Fine Jewelery - At Armstrong Rockwell, they believe, "If there was something better, we would have it!" Armstrong Rockwell Fine Jewelry is proud to be authorized agents for great luxury brands, such as: Audemars Piguet, BlancpaiN, Hublot, Jaquet Droz, and Perrelet. Further, Armstrong is a boutique style store, unlike most independently owned, or chain stores; combining modern technology with old world values. Their staff, as well as the products they carry, represent this balance. Located in downtown Hartford for over twenty-eight years, Armstrong Rockwell offers an extensive collection of some of the finest jewelry and watches available worldwide. In addition, we are proud that they represent us. They even promote us on Timezone.com, which is a great benefit to the brand, so this is one of the reasons why I wanted to "spotlight them".
